Panorama Museum

The museum was built before the unification of Germany in 1990 and shows a monumental panorama which is dedicated to one of the most important battles of the peasant’s war in 1525. Peasants and supporters of Martin Luther were fighting for more rights and freedom, but after Luther withdrew his support they lost the battle. The Communist rulers regarded this uprising as an early anti-capitalistic event and commissioned the artist Werner Tübke to create a panoramic story. The painting was finished in 1887. The museum also shows graphics, paintings, drawings and sculpture from this period up to modern arts.
