The museum (stadtmuseum Jena) presents the (cultural) history of the city from its beginnings to a city of knowledge and sciences. Philosophers (for example Reinhold, Fichte, Schelling, and Hegel) turned Jena into a ´new-Athens´ at the end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th century. The exhibit displays many objects, documents and the success story of the Zeiss Company.
