Das Centre Charlemagne is a museum and a starting point for the Route Charlemagne, that introduces the visitor to the Roman and Carolingian legacy of Aachen, Roman city and former residence of Charlemagne (748-814 and Emperor from 800). The museum shows the history of Aachen, the prehistory, German tribes, Roman occupation and the time of Charlemagne.
