Museen

The gallery (Neue Galerie im Höhmannhaus) is a centre of contemporary art and also shows a collection of graphic art from South-Germany and the Baroque in particulier, including works by Hans Holbein and Elias Holl, when Ausgburg was one of the artistic centers of the region and humanism.    

The museum ((Diözesanmuseum St. Afra) shows seventeen centuries of art and history, Roman relics, the Ottonian bronze portal of the cathedral, medieval textiles (9th-13th centuries), Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque church treasures and modern works of religious art.

The museum (Haus der Bayerischen Geschichte) presents the history of Bayern by exhibitions in different cities.

The museum (Stiftsmuseum) shows religious art and the church interior.  

Das Federseemuseum zeigt mit einzigartigen Originalfunden die prähistorische Siedlungslandschaft. Von der Altsteinzeit bis zur frühen Eisenzeit erstrecken sich auch die kulturgeschichtlichen Hintergründe der Region. Die Prähistorischen Pfahlbausiedlungen bilden den Schwerpunkt der neuen Ausstellung bilden.

The museum was built before the unification of Germany in 1990 and shows a monumental panorama which is dedicated to one of the most important battles of the peasant’s war in 1525.
