Renaissance Museum

The Castle of Écouen holds the exceptional collections of the National Museum of the Renaissance (Musée de la Renaissance). The castle was the property of Anne of Montmorency, an ardent collector of what we call today Renaissance art. The castle was covered with mosaics, works of glass, stained glass windows, panelling, friezes and painted landscapes, sculptures, marble and cast iron, a true renaissance castle. Decorative arts, such as enamels, pottery, tapestries, paintings, books and goldsmithery are among today ‘s collection.
