Christian Schad Museum

The collection encompasses the major works by Christian Schad (1894-1982) and his artistic development. Schad joined the Dada-movement in Switzerland in 1916. He began to create his Schadographs (photographs made without a camera or a lens). His first paintings in the style of the Neue Sachlichkeit (New Objectivity) were created in 1923. He began to devote himself to expressive painting during the 1940s. In the early 1960s he turned to Magical Realism as well as his work on photograms.
