Staatliches Museum

The Museum is one of the most important national culture centres in the new Federal States of Germany. The visitor finds rich artistic treasures, including the famous collection of 17th century Dutch and Flemish paintings in the gallery. Works from ancient times to the present day, selected from the extensive historically acquired collections. Temporary exhibitions with differentiated concepts and particular emphasis on contemporary work supplement the permanent collections. The collection of the works of Marcel Duchamp is unique in its comprehensiveness, covering almost all periods and aspects of the work of one of the the most important artists of the 20th century. The treasures of the engraving cabinet with selected 16th to 20th century drawings and prints can be visited in the Villa, Werderstraße 142.
