In the Catacombs of Paris (Les Catacombes de Paris), a vast network of underground tunnels and places, the visitor can rediscover the underground work of the miners, who, since early antiquity have extracted the calcareous used in so many buildings, or meditate in the ossuary on the remains of around 6 million inhabitants laid to rest there since 1786. The Catacombs can be visited as if you come there around the eigtheenth century. The history of Paris and its inhabitants is written in stones as well and anonymous skulls tell their own story, which will never be heard however.
