Suermondt-Ludwig Museum

The museum has an important medieval sculpture collection for the 12-16 centuries. This also culminates in a magnificent collection of carved altars. Other highlights are the paintings of late Gothic, Baroque, Romantic and classical modern art, representing painting from Cologne, southern Germany and Dutch masters of the 15th and 16 Century. Four rooms contain Dutch paintings from the seventeenth century. The collection of tapestries can be seen in separate rooms. Rich stocks of stained glass, antiques and crafts are on display through the major epochs of European art history. The museum also has an important collection of prints and drawings, an art library and offers many educational activities and organizes many special exhibitions.
