Museum of the Romantics

The museum of the Romantics (Musée de la vie romantique) is located in the heart of Paris, beyond the Opera House and below Montmartre. The museum is housed in a private mansion from 1830 in the Italian style during the early days of King Louis Philippe’s monarchy. The Museum is inspired, as the name suggest already, by nineteenth century Romanticism. This destination is not surprising since the first owner was the famous romantic painter Ary Scheffer. The museum exhibits paintings, drawings, photography and some 100 artefacts and furniture of the time. Exhibitions are held twice a year and focus on romanticism.
