Museum of Imagery

The permanent exhibition in Musée de l’Image presents the history of popular imagery from the 17th century onwards, its engravers, image-making centres and other issues and then proceeds to explain the functions of images: to edify, to entertain, to educate, to sell products. From religious images to morality tales for children, including propaganda images, paper theatres, paper soldiers, satirical images and advertising, all the varied themes that appeared in popular imagery.
