Museum of Carnavalet

The Museum of Carnavalet (Musée de Carnavalet) is housed within the walls of the Hotel de Carnavalet and the Hotel Le Peletier de Saint-Fargeau, two buildings from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The permanent collection covers the history of Paris from prehistory and the Gallo-Roman period, Middle Ages, Early Modern and Modern times and contemporary history. Much attention is paid to the French Revolution, when royal Paris would become the centre of an anti-monarchist revolution that took several centuries to truly reach completion. The Museum also organizes special exhibitions and other events.
