Claude Nicolas Ledoux Museum and Saline Royale

Designed by Claude-Nicolas Ledoux (1736-1806), a visionary architect in the Enlightenment period, the Royal Saltworks site (Unesco World Heritage List) is a an exceptional example of industrial architecture history. The Royal Saltworks site is a unique monument, open for visits, and hosts temporary exhibits. The permanent exhibit presents the history and operations of  salt production in the 18th century. The 57 models tell the story of the architect’s life, his building works, and his plans to create the Ideal City.
