Archaeological Museum Angera

The museum (Museo Archeologico di Angera) houses archaeological finds from digs and excavations led on its territory since the end of the 1800s in its portico and two rooms. These narrate the history of the human population from its origins, meaning from the interglacial phase until the end of the paleolithic era 11,000 years ago. This is the oldest evidence of the human population in the territory of Varese. Relics from the Roman era are more numerous: inscriptions, architectonic remains, everyday objects recreate the image of a populated settlement, whose landing at the southern mouth of Lago Maggiore constituted the crossroads for Mediterranean and transalpine culture.
