Marie Tak van Poortvliet Museum

The museum carries the name of its founder, Marie Tak van Poortvliet (1871-1936) , a collector of paintings and pionier in the field of agriculture. She built a villa and an exhibition hall in the early twenties. The present museum is a copy of the lost original, which collapsed in 1921. Domburg is a small town in Zeeland and many artists came by the end of the nineteenth century to enjoy and to profit from the beauty of the surroundings, the light and reflection by the water and the magnificent seaside and coastline, dunes and forests.
