The German National Museum

The German National Museum (Germanisches Nationalmuseum) presents incomparable stores of exceptional art and artisanship of the cultural history of German-speaking central Europe. The chronological spectrum of the museum extends all the way to the present by an innovative integrated presentation of history, art and design. The museum also incorporates historical archives, a fine arts archives, a cabinet of coins and medals, the German bell archives, a cabinet of prints and drawings and an institute for art technology and conservation. The museum’s specialized library houses more than 500,000 volumes on the history of European art and European cultural history.
