In 1612 the Elector of Mainz, Johann Schweikard von Kronberg, founded a Jesuit community in Aschaffenburg. Since 1990 the Church has been an exhibition venue (Jesuitenkirche) with an emphasis on the Classical Modern period and permanent contemporary art installations. Four to five different exhibitions take place every year.
