Looking back to the future is not easy with regard to climatologic changes. Doom scenarios prevail and artists are closely involved to deal with the possible consequences in Europe. The Museum for Art and Industry (Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe) in Hamburg organizes a forecast on life with climate change and on the consequences for design and urban planning with 30 historical and contemporary models an strategies from design, art, architecture and urban development. The exhibition “Climate Capsules: Means of Surviving Disaster” poses the difficult question: “How do we want to live in the future?” The public discussion on the climate change concentrates primarily on preventing change. The current artistic projects question the positivist perspective of their counterparts of the past, and offer the exhibition visitor a further level of sensory experience.
