The Artist from Vinci

The National Gallery will present the largest ever of number of paintings of Leonardo, born in Vinci in 1452. The exhibition is dedicated to his aims, ambitions and his extraordinary observation, imagination and technique as painter. More than 60 paintings and drawings are on display. These pictures show how the artist used his artistic freedom to find new ways of perceiving and recording the natural world, focussing in particular on anatomy, soul and emotions. It also was in Milan that he executed his wall-painting the Last Supper. This magnificent work will be presented by a near-contemporary copy of one of his pupils.
