European History Through the Eyes of Photographers

For twenty years, the Deutsches Historisches Museum (German Historical Museum ) in Berlin collects photographs of contemporary history and to everyday life. The DHM posseses over one million and seven hundred thousand negatives, four hundred thousand photos and eleven thousand dias. Now the time is ripe for a comprehensive presentation of the repertoire. The exhibition features over 250 designs in the photographic highlights of the collection of the late 19th century until 1990 in a chronological overview. Meters of shelf space with photographers provide a tour throughout history moved one of the last 130 years. In addition, topics such as portrait, sports and fashion highlight the collection. Some of the pictures are well known, most, however, reveal hidden stories, for example the differences between East and West with regard to sports, arts, fashion and many other facets of daily life.
